Sad

We have got to clean up that good good-ole-boy system. I felt a little better when Joe Johnson came back, but that faded quickly with the reappearance of Eli Fly. It's back to business as usual. Sad

I agree.  It's quite clear that Shumaker would not have gone as far as he did if he had not known that other UT administrators and Trustees (Clayton McWhorter?) were also squeezing the system and taxpayers for all they could get. We need more audits, especially at the level of the Board of Trustees, Chancellor and College Deans.

What's interesting is how Shumaker is now being used as a scapegoat for everything.  Loren Crabtree, for example, has started blaming Shumaker for the decline in UTK's enrollments! How about Crabtree's own actions and public relations fiascos with the Architecture Dean and lawsuits? A week before Shumaker resigned, Crabtree was lauding Shumaker's style and vision...
Maybe if UTK had a Chancellor produced through an open search (instead of the rigged search with no other contenders) UTK would be better off!

We need a good cleaning at the top -- that includes Eli Fly, Clayton McWhorter and Loren Crabtree.

Interesting column by Phil Bredesen on UT and the lack of confidence and trust in the system

However, Joe Johnson is unlikely to restore confidence -- especially when several other scandals are poised to break out.  One involving the College of Business concerns fabrications of data and teaching evaluations by key administrators in the College.  Johnson is probably cognizant of this (or should be ) as he is teaching with one of the people named in the law suit -- on leadership?! Tennessee taxpayers are paying for the defense of these crooks.

Phil, the UTK system is more corrupt than you currently know -- and it seeps well below the President's office. It displays the worst characteristics of a good ole boy network. It's not easy to either clean up or to remedy.

Huh

It appears that Loren Crabtree is on the list of nominations for President of UT.  It may be a self-nomination, but I seriously hope he is not considered
seriously.  This is the same joker who created the fiasco with the Architecture Dean and who is currently named in a lawsuit on discrimination.  UT deserves better than this! This guy is worse than Shumaker -- petty, corrupt and a bully.
