Why would we want a ex-drug dealer in the commissioners seat?   I don't.  I don't care whose son he is.  If there was nothing to hide then why didn't he tell of his past before he took the seat?  His Mom had a lot of pull to get her son in her ex-seat and I don't think a government job is a place for an ex junkie, sorry.

Yes.  If certain crimes keep citizens from voting........then certainly it should keep them from holding office.

Yes.I think the public has every right to know his past, but then,He would probably still be in jail if everything was disclosed about him.If they allow this to continue as it is going, your Government has no credibility at all.....

Heck yeah it should factor in. When I go to apply for a job they do an extensive background check, and if ANYTHING pops up that even has the smallest appearance of a checkered past I am on the train to the big adios....same for everyone else but apparently not for Josh Jordan. People can sugarcoat it all they want, but the fact is he was a crack dealer, and he was an accessory to a violent murder. The only reason he isnt behind bars right now is because he squealed on his buddies. And maybe he has reformed his life since then, but that doesnt excuse what he did and that alone most definitely recuses him from holding office, and you can couple that with him having absolutely ZERO qualifications and then there is your answer..

So here is my question.. whose responsibility is it to disclose that information? Last time I checked most of us try to sell ourselves for a job not reveal all of the reasons why we wouldn't be a good candidate for a job.

Is it your potential employer's responsibility to do a background check or should they solely rely on your honesty?

Hey News Lady,
Think about this....if our employer finds out something from our past that we did not disclose  they will terminate our employment.  Ask the bosses at 6.

Unless I am mistaken you are required to be honest and forthright about your various histories when you apply for any job. You know that long paragraph preceding the line where you sign the application? It specifically says that by signing, you agree that you have not misrepresented any of the information on the application. Most people dont even read that paragraph, so they may not even know that if they DO conveniently omit information they can be incarcerated for doing so. Most employers do a thorough background check anyway just to make sure.

Of course ones criminal record is relevant. If tax records, number of marriages, business failures, children’s activities, religious belief, sexual preference and everything else is relevant why wouldn’t his criminal record be also.

I cant believe that we live in a society where we will debate if honesty and integrity are relevent to hold a public office responsible for the delegations and spending of a multi-million dollar county government.  But then again most political candidates are crooks and liars so what does it really matter!

Does Mr. Jordan have a criminal record, as in felony?  If so I think that by law disqualifies him from any kind of public office.

Of course his criminal past is relevant.  This question is a "no-brainer".

I do not think Jorden should ever be allowed to hold any type of public office.EVER!

If anyone is ever convicted of domestic abuse (violence),it doesn't matter how many times they repent or say they are sorry, they can never buy a firearm legally or get a carry permit.Ever!

Jorden knew what he was doing when he broke the law therefore in my most humble opinion, he gave up his right to ever run for,be appointed to,be elected to or hold public office.EVER! It is alright to forgive,Just don't be stupid.....

Yes, I think all public office holders records are relevant, and should be published in the news paper.
