Where is the transcript for McCain's 4:40pm - 5:00pm speech, on 17 July 2007; before the Senate's Levin-Reed overnight debate?

I need to see the exact wording of his off-the-cuff first Federal admission of our true goal in Iraq. That transcript would be of great importance in setting our country back in the right (correct) direction. Odd, yet, I'm not ready to call it conspiratorial, that this transcript is non-existant.

Paraphrasing ~I'll say something that my other colleagues won't--we're still there, because of the Oil--we're dependent on it~

It was said at ~4:52pm in the Senate debate

If anybody has a link to the exact wording, I'd greatly appreciate it. Smiley

Still, no transcript, nowhere. Nothing. At $50 billion / year profit why should ?WE? want to change anything about our Energy dependence? I didn't imagine it. McCain said it--and its admission is extremely noteworthy. We went to war to protect Oil companies from losing their hold on our Wallets. No more a Constitutional Government. No longer a Government for the people, merely a Government for the Highest Bidder. Write, e-mail, or Call your Senators & Representatives. Hold them responsible for their actions.

Yet still nothing on McCain's first speech at  4:30-5:00pm Tuesday 17 Jul 2007, Senate Floor. Acc. to Senate records, Bush sent a message to the Senate floor, during the debate, "an Executive Order blocking the property of persons determined to have committed, or to pose a significant risk of committing, an act or acts of violence that have the purpose or effect of threatening the peace or stability of Iraq ..." http://thomas.loc.gov/r110/r110d17jy7.html

Republican Thug Senator Larry Craig, Idaho, "What happens to the world energy supply if Iran does gain more control in the Middle East? What are the realities of the consequences of an Iran that possibly could gain control over 54% of the world energy supply? ... a premature withdrawal from Iraq could have dire consequences with our economy and energy supply"-18 July 2007, Senate Floor

Former Democratic Congressman Larry LaRocco, “Craig rose to his feet on the floor of the Senate to say we should not begin a responsible withdrawal of our troops because of oil…it’s an astounding admission, and it’s in black and white."

$2 trillion, thousands and thousands of innocent Iraqis, and 3625 brave American warriors, just to keep us from getting off the Oil? Feeling rooked yet?

Here we go now. When we tell our kids and grandkids. "Listen guys, it never was about Oil." And when we write the American History books in a few years as we reflect on this era, there will be NO NEED to mention, that after all,

Iraq to Open Oil Fields for 35 Foreign Companies
Initial No-Bid Contracts Delayed

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/01/world/middleeast/01iraq.html?ref=world

Those closed door meetings with Dick Cheney and Exxon-Mobil, Chevron-Texaco, Shell, & BP executives, back in March of 2001, had nothing at all to do with the decision to invade Iraq.

The USA has more oil in Alaska alone than Iraq does, add in the offshore oil and this shows why that any claim about "oil" is dubious at best.

Foul breeze does Iraq has a right to sell it oil reserves?  Leftist  said more of our military will die in Iraq than Vietnam.  Fact Check  12 times more died in Vietnam.
We can not win in Iraq.   Fact Check. Iraq has stablilized and we are standing down in Iraq.
Do you want to find a bad war?   Why did President Johnson keep sending troops to Vietnam, while not allowing our troops to defeat the enemy?  Foul breeze is a great name for you.

I think that is why the Viet Nam was has such a FOUL taste in our mouths.  We did not win.  Our guys were treated as baby killers and as scum of the earth.
I hope we follow through with this war and not stay for the oil reasons.

I know exactly what it was like.I couldn't even get a Job.The door closed as soon as they found out my military history.I always thought serving your country honorably meant something, and I still do.I would do it again if asked and the cowards could go ahead and slip off to canada or where ever.We didn't need them anyway!

Vietnam did leave a bad taste but history is correcting some of the horrible lies about it.  Also, Nam and Iraq are so different that it is beyond laughing about it.  The one and only reason that a single person has said that they are compatible is that too many current federal legislators served in Nam-the American Electorate needs to boot every politician with one day of service in Nam because we can honor their service but their mindset about it is way out of date for Iraq.

It sure left a foul taste/attitude with me! I do not think that it was because we did not win - for we did not lose until we withdrew and did not return as President Nixon promised!  Angry
Which is what will happen in Iraq!  Tongue

Senator Harkin described Southeast Asia (Vietnam) following the US withdraw as "Nothing Happened." That's pretty close to being a holocaust denier. Senator Harkin was trying to make a point about how a US withdraw from Iraq would lead to no sever consequences....Just like after our Vietnam withdraw, "nothing happened."

How quickly these lefties forget: The US withdrawal led directly to Millions of refugees (many of whom became known as "boat people), three million murdered in Cambodia, about one third of the entire Vietnamese population put in prison camps and well over 165,000 Vietnamese executed... is the same in liberal-land as "nothing happened." Senator Harkin then goes on to refer to how we now enjoy the cruise ships and wonder beaches of Vietnam.  Shocked

I wouldn't go to the beaches of Viet Nam if I won an all paid expense cruise.
