On April 24, 2004, almost a year ago, my father passed away, he had fought a battle with cancer for 7 years and lost. We, as in the family knew what the outcome would be for we had been told by his doctors, he was an elderly man that had lived his life with every ounce of spirit he could muster, he had a loving wife, 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchilden, we were all by his beside in his last moments. I held his hand and told him I loved him as he left, never to return to us again. I know the heartache that I have felt over his death, I know the sadness and I know the anger, I cannot imagine how I would feel if his death had been at someone elses hand, and that the person responsible was still living their life as if nothing had happened, happy and free. Disease took my father, this I know and I still have the "what if's" or the "could have, should have, would have's".  A child is supposed to bury their parents it is the natural order of things, a parent is not supposed to bury a child. To have no warning, no sickness that would make you think that a life could end, but just the actions of a sick faceless coward, that steals from you one of the most important things in your life, your child. I cannot imagine that. I commend your strength. My sincere heartfelt sympathy goes out to this family, not just today or tomorrow but for the remainder of their time on this earth because that is how long they will miss their loved one.

My heart goes out to you and your family. was this where it was a blonde haired girl and a friend whom were stabbed in there apartment which they showed on the news I belive in the winter time or so? and they had a drawing of the suspect? I know someone for months whom had seen that and if so  when she seen the drawing it gave her a sick feeling in her stomach, she said the eyes reminded her of someone whom lives in raccoonvalley road.. so she dug out his graduation picture and I tried to match it up to the drawing that was on the news, and the eyes and some features were close I thought and so did she .. and this was in the winter time ..   and I printed your letter for her to read and after all this time she still said she gets that sick feeling about it .. who knows she could be wrong ..     but she still gets that sick feeling ..

It is so hard to believe that there is no new information on this case and the murderer is just out there walking around among us.  Really frightening.  My neighbor has a daughter who is moving into Steeplechase apts. in North Knoxville.  First time her daughter has lived on her own.  Does anyone know anything about Steeplechase apts - good or bad?   Thanks.

I would like to let everyone know that Johnia's family is having a candlelight memorial service in Knoxville at the World's Fair Park on Friday, August 26th at 7pm. Johnia would have been 22 years old that day and we would like to celebrate her life. Everyone is welcome. If there are any questions, please feel free to email me at kebman@mac.com

We're also holding a separate service on Thursday, August 25th, at the court house in Abingdon, VA, at 7pm. Please feel free to attend the closer service, or both.

Thank you,
Kelly Burke?
