"Always Faithful"

« on: January 08, 2010, 05:35:41 PM »

I've seen a lot of concerns about privacy issues with the use of this machine.I haven't seen anything addressed about radiation issues, and I feel sure there is some type of radiation involved.I would be more concerned with that than I would of someone looking at my naked body.I would however want to be paid if they looked at me more than once or they enjoyed the view.  Wink Wink Wink

I watched something the other day addressing this.  Apparently the radiation from these machines is 2000x less than a chest x-ray and 200,000x less than an CAT scan.  Supposedly, the level is so low it "bounces" off the skin surface and does not penetrate the skin.  It's probably no worse than using a cell phone, standing next to a microwave oven or a tv set.

And it is optional to go through the scanner...you can opt for a "pat down" instead so it's up to the individual at the end of the day.

I had a thought while listening to all these concerns about security...wouldn't it be more effective, and perhaps cheaper, to have bomb sniffing dogs at the boarding gates?  Just a thought....

What I find interesting is that even with President Obama now finally admitting that, "we are at war," what part of hunt down the terrorists, kill them as the enemy, and thus, rid the world of them is so hard for many Americans still to comprehend?Huh

We look at body scans and the like without ever looking at why they are needed, because some raghead wants to commit mass murder.  It really is that simple.

An entire religion, Islam, is held hostage because of less than 1% of its followers want to impose their brand of it on everyone and use that as their smokescreen for engaging in criminal acts. There is only one solution for radical Islamic terrorists and it ain't educating them!

And do you really believe that any self respecting airport worker is going to pat down the crotch and ass of complete strangers?

Airport Security personnel do it every hour of every day Deb.  "Pat downs" have been done for years and years...together with a hand held scanner...I've traveled extensively and seen it many, many times...it's the "old" way of doing it.  Personally, I would prefer to go through a scanner than have some stranger "feeling me up".

But getting back to full body scans...if that is what it takes to make people, generally, feel "safer" flying then so be it...it's a small price to pay in my opinion.  For those so against it...simple solution....take the bus!  Unfortunately, there will always be those that will argue about everything.

I've been "felt up" at the airport.

Trust me, unless the procedure has changed, there are a couple of places that things could have been hidden and the pat down would not have disclosed them.

The pat down has never checked
     Between my breasts
     My genitals
     Between my butt cheeks

It's generally a pretty modest pat down.

If that changes, the new problem might be perverts standing in line to clear security at the airport Smiley

At what point would the pat down become an assault?

I'm not opposed to the body scan, as I see no way that the "hands on" approach can be effective without being offensive.

Hence, the "in my opinion"...meaning, personally...for me...but as I also said, if people have a problem with any of it....get a bus or stay home...problem solved - we could go on and on and on splitting hairs on this topic, or any other, forever...there will always be differing opinions, that's what makes the World an interesting place to be.

So it's ok to blow up a bus, but not a plane?

Next on Glen Beck...........

In a current move to transfer terrorism risks from the airlines to the buslines, all airports will require body scans.  If you are self conscious, embarrassed, intimidated, too modest or hiding explosives - please choose the busline for your transportation needs.

This should be really effective!

yea xzxz, I've dropped a couple of people of at the bus station.

Kind of makes hitch hiking look like the preferred mode of travel doesn't it.   Undecided

TLC, as for the "sea creatures", you probably don't want to depend on the the airport body scans for a diagnosis......check with your local clinic if you want to be safe.  Wink

I drive a Taxi,I was just wondering if I could require my fares to go through a full body scan so I could decide if I wanted them in my car.  Undecided

If you drive a taxi and are concerned with the potential "Taxicab Transmitted Parasites", you might want to implement the following - barring a full body scan prior to a fare entering your cab.....

1) Health certificate required for riding
2) Recommendation letters from previous partners of the fare indicating whether or not there were unwanted "side effects" from sex with the fare
3)In lieu of a body scan machine - a high pressure power wash may prove to be more effective........this option would limit your picking up fares to the local car wash however, as you would want the high pressure wash prior to granting entry into the cab, and if the fares are at a car wash, they probably don't need a cab.
4)proper cab fumigation services
6) Due diligence - do NOT pick up fares scratching conspicuously
7) Allow fares to ride only on exterior luggage rack
