Hey:

Has anyone heard that Saddam's sons may have either been killed or captured?  Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Why is it called "War with Iraq"?  Are we at war with the Iraqai nation or are we in a war to get Saddam ousted?

Wouldn't a better title be "War with Saddam"?

If you were a genie and a person asked you this wish, "I wish you would not grant me this wish" what would you do?

Perhaps you are right, Coach. We are no longer at war against the country and its government, just factions within it. But when the war started, we were at war with the country and its ruler.

Just confirmed:

Both of Saddam's sons were among the dead in the fire fight.

Great news! Now on to Saddam!

Did you read where the Government is going to show photos of the dead sons.  They need to do more. They should have show the bodies to the people not photos.  Iraq's people don't trust us, they need physical proof.
Forum Admin:  This is a conflict, not a War.  Only Congress can declare war, which they have not.  I know I am beating a dead horse, but the news should use the correct words.  I am not faulting WATE because it seems that everybody from the President on down is calling this a war.  It just irritates me that the American people just go alone acting that they have to support Bush.  Why aren't we questioning the subtle violation to the Constitution?

I remember when the statues of Saddam came down, the people took of their shoes and beat the statue.  That was to show that Saddam was disgraced.  That was a form of closure for those people.

Now that the sons are dead, what can be done to help them get closure on these two guys?  I do not advocate parading their bodies so the people can beat them with their shoes.

We may not want to parade their bodies around, but maybe in their culture it needs to be done.  We do not take our shoes off and beat statues.  In their culture I understand that it is one of the worst disgrace to be hit by somebody shoes.  We need to approach these people from their culture not from our culture.

As you say, everyone -- not just the news media -- is calling it a war.

Nearly every president has sent troops into conflict without Congress declaring war. Still, when bullets and bombs are flying back and forth from both sides, it can hardly be called anything but a war.

The photos have been released, but I would warn you that they are graphic.  I thought I could handle looking at them, but now I just feel that I could've done without it.

Phydeaux, thanks for warning us.  I was tempted to click to see the pictures but I noticed the "Viewer Discretion Advised" message.  I decided I really don't want to see those pictures.

Thanks,

Well, it seems the media is going to show us the pictures whether we want to see them or not.  I went to a national news site and BAM!, up popped those pictures!

You are right, they are gross.  However, I think the Iraq people may not be satisfied,  they may need DNA proof.

By the way,  it will be interesting to see if the U.S. pays the $30 million reward to that informant who told of their location. ($15 million for each)

I understand Fox News put the photos on their home page, but most other national news sites have not, choosing to put them in an internal page with a disclaimer adjacent to the link.

Knowing that some people do not want to see them,  WATE.com has decided to not post the photos directly. Instead, our story provides a link to CNN's story. Within that story is a link to the photos.
