Should Morgan County house Guantanamo Bay detainees at Brushy Mountain prison?
A Morgan County commissioner says he wants to take terrorism suspects from Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp and house them at Brushy Mountain Correctional Complex, the aging state prison near Petros that was closed this week.
Commissioner Nick Bishop says bringing the inmates to East Tennessee "would create between 600-1,000 jobs in Morgan County and the surrounding region."
However, Dept. of Corrections spokeswoman Dorinda Carter told 6 News the department isn't in favor of bringing prisoners from Guantanamo Bay to any state prison.
6 News wants to know if you are in favor of the proposal. Please answer our 6 Listens Question and leave a comment.

You people are like children. You'd think these guys are the Riddler, the Joker, or some other arch villians who have super powers. It is pathetic how cowardly and fearful you are. With some upgrading, the prison is as good as any and in fact would not be a bad place to house the war prisoners. It is unlikely that any of their friends would come to spring them, since there are no al Quaeda in the U.S., let alone Tennessee. Since 9/11, we have suffered more harm from domestic terrorism inflicted by our own citizens. One such incident occurred only a few days ago when Dr. Tiller was murdered inside a church. And don't forget the travesty that took place here at the Unitarian Church. A young couple isn't even safe from carjacking and murder.
Many of the people we have picked up in this foolhardy adventure have been released because they were innocent of any involvement in violent acts and were sold by their enemies for bounty money. A few have ended up rejoining the fight and others have gone home to spread the word of our brutality as well.
It has been speculated that one reason there has been so much resistance to relocating the Guantanamo prisoners to American soil is that there may be ocunted among their numbers American citizens who were picked up and spirited away and held without due process for years. By now it has been fairly well established that we have been under the leadership of war criminals who would not have hesitated to carry out such acts.
Unfortunately too many of our fellow citizens have fallen under the hypnotic spell of those who are driven by power and greed and have enabled them. Shame on all of you.

It is not the threat of escape that is the concern. It is the "FACT" the their cronies will come here to bust them out. Prisons are designed to keep people in. Keeping the terrorists out is another matter. They just storm they will destroy most of North Tennessee. But they will be "condemed" at the highest levels of government and of course, "there will be consequences".
There's a lot of folks that voted for "The Anointed One" but did not vote for a lot of his policies. This is neither the, "Change we can believe in" or accept. "When in the course of human events it becomes necessary to disolve.....". It is time gentlemen to take up arms against the cause.
He removed the idea
I guess WATE is behind. All the other media outlets has the statement where the Commissoner removed the idea. WBIR channel 10 actually has the statement

Nick Bishops statement
"Due to lack of public support I will remove my resolution requesting the Morgan County Commission to ask the State Of Tennessee and Federal government to “consider” using the decommissioned Brushy Mountain Prison facility as a “possible” complex to house Guantanamo Bay detainees. I saw several polls that showed roughly seventy percent of people against the idea and thirty percent in favor. Thus, in respect to democracy I will remove my “idea” from the agenda. I also firmly believe that Morgan County Executive Becky Ruppe and the State of Tennessee are doing everything they can to find a solution and my resolution was simply just another “idea”.
I am glad that the situation sparked a public debate on two important issues, the idea of what to do with the Brushy Mountain Prison facility and what should be done in regards to housing terrorist. The laws and ideas that our founding fathers put forth to establish our great nation came about through the process of civil public debate, not through hate and fear. I think that we as Americans have veered away from this principle and I hope we can get back on track. The issue of what to do with Brushy Mountain and what should happen with housing terrorist are extremely important in regards to not only security, but also the best possible use of public funds and I hope the public will pay attention to the issues and voice their concerns and ideas to the government. Thank you and God Bless.

Sounds like he got the debate started i guess.

Terrorists at Brushy
We already have enough trash in Morgan County. Let alone bring those terrorist here. Fully disagree.
Brushy Mountain
It always amazes me how everything winds up being the United States responsibility to fix. The whole UN wants Gitmo closed, but they dont' want these terrorist in their countries! Tennessee as a majority did not vote for Obama, and I fail to see why we should support his policies. But heck...why not bring them to Tennessee? We already posted the blue prints on the web. Maybe we should just roll out the red carpet and let them nuke the crap out of us! Should we allow them to come to Tennessee??? Heck, no! I think the UN needs to step up to the plate and take responsibilty for these prisoners. They should be divided evenly between all UN nations not just left to the US to deal with. Until the other nations are ready to step up to the plate, I say them stay where they are at. We do realize that if these prisoners are brought to the US that they will have to be kept in solitary confinement? Who pays for all this special care??? We the American people do!
Voting for Obama's polices
If doesn't matter whether you voted for Mr. Obama or not: If you are an American citizen and you believe in America, then you vote for President Obama's polices, whether you like them or not. United we stand; divided we fall. Else you're a fing parasite!
obama
obama is the anti-crist! did you see his likeness on the pyrimid wall in egypt? he was prediced way back then. we know who the parisite is.
what?
that is the stupidest thing i have ever heard. get your head out obama's asshole, asshole.
Brushy Mtn
Brushy has housed more than it's fair share of the bad guys, some quite famous, some not. These were American citizens that had committed a crime and became guests of the state of TN for a spell; some for life. However, I think I'm safe in saying that most of these criminals were not members of terrorist groups who will committ sucide on such missions as flying airplanes into buildings. Yep, that's the kind of folks we're talking about here. I'm not sure what is actually kept in Oak Ridge anymore---you know they tend to keep some things a secret there---but Oak Ridge is a big enough attraction for these insane groups without us bringing any of their buddies here for them to want to come in and try to bust out-----not an easy task---have to give Brushy credit. As for young Nick, let's not be too hard on him. He is thinking in terms of a real use for Brushy and more jobs for our county. He's a young man that wants to make a difference in his county and help it grow jobs. Stay after it Nick you'll come up with something that will work. Really his idea isn't really any worse than Mayor Ruppe wanting to turn Brushy into a B & B!!! Would they leave the rooms as cells to give guests a real taste of prison life or what! Shucks, maybe it ain't crazy; B & B 's have been made from barns, chicken houses, warehouses, you name it; maybe a 113 yr old prison isn't so crazy....yeah it is...Brushy has always had a rep of being a tough prison...no tea parties there. I agree with several other posters let the president take the Gitmo's in!
