I think the "race" card for the most part has been played out. I mean really when was the last time you worked somewhere, or went to shop somewhere , or eat somewhere where someone of a minority race was put under false accusation, not served or waited on, or mistreated in anyway?
I am guessing it hasn't happened in so long we have a couple of generations who may say they have never seen it happen at all. We're making progress don't let the media still portray an attitude like it was 1960. Not denying racism exists, just proclaiming it's so insignificant it doesn't affect most people.

Do we really need to be so caught up in looking for things to be offended by we can't make jokes about generalizations, be it a social group, an economic group, or even heaven forbid a racial group. I think we are so past this that no one needs special protection from being the target of jokes regardless of the punchline. Besides Obama made the same joke during his campaign when he said I don't look like any of the other presidents" (referring to American currency)

If anybody needs protection from jokes and ridicule it would be Bush because we could tell those jokes all day long. Everyone would laugh, even the ones screaming respect the president in these posts you dirty dogs. We might as well joke about our differences and maybe lighten the tensions.

Just one more thing, pay attention to B.E.T. stand up comedians, there are a lot of funny things about being Caucasian that I grew up unaware of, so if I ( a Caucasian male)can find the humor there, then surely Obama can find humor in the staffer's joke. If not. you know what we say about people who can't take a joke :P

How could anyone go against our president he is our leader, just because he is black does not mean to hate him, he did not have anything to do with the color he is. Mr. Obama is a very smart well versed black man, he is trying to undo all the wrong that has been piling up for 8 years, this man is trying to help everyone. President Obama is for change and he has a lot on his plate. If we all (no matter black, white, yellow, red) would all pull together maybe things would get better.

How many people are Christians and profess to love the Lord, and then hate someone because of their color which the individual did not choose what color he would be. the lord made us to his image not man's image. why is there so much hate? Doesn't everyone understand that we have to meet our maker one day. President Obama has not hurt anyone he is for change and that is what he is trying to do, to make a change from what was to what will be. President Obama has a lot on his plate, I wonder if we were president how good would we be..

I think the person who sent the email should be fired, not punished because he will under he will do it again in a different way. I thought Americans were to respect our president, Like I said he did not ask to be black and who is anyone to condemn him for his race.

I beleive that joke may be appropriate and protected under free speech if it were sent between friends in private email accounts. It may or may not be racist depending on the context of the situation it was presented in.

Definitely not on company time or my tax dollar. I have insufficient evidence to make a judgment. It would be prejudice for me to make an assumption of guilt.

It is far to common in this area for people to be racists. I have no understanding as to why that people in East Tennessee still are this way. I figured out for myself, at the young age of 7 years that it did not make since to hate someone because of the color of their skin. I am now 42 years old and still find it appalling that people are this ignorant. I live in Claiborne County where this problem runs rampant despite the fact that the Confederate soldiers burned the original town when they left because most of the people here fought for the Union. Funny isn't it?
My 7 year old went to stay with a friend the other day, whose mother had to work and sent them to the child's grandmothers for the afternoon. This woman would not allow them to play near the woods because, "there are snakes out because Obama is the President and has caused them to come out." This is crazy and my daughter does not go there any longer. How can people call themselves Christians and hate like that?

there are more racist things being done to whites by blacks then that..but the blacks go crying that was racist.we whites have to just take it !

jokes will always be there but not on ones children that was to much letterman! that should cause him to be fired you don't joke one ones children!!
