why not?anything obama wants obama gets. just hope we can live with his leadership.

Race apparently is a factor.

I have to obect to this nomination on the grounds that this nominee was obviously chosen with her race as the prominent deciding factor. This nominee, as an appellate judge ruled against the New Haven firefighters because the test for promotions was thrown out because minorities did not score high enough to get promoted. That is all I have to know. She won`t rule by the law, but by whatever she thinks is right. This is supposed to be a nation of laws, of equality before the court.

She may very well be qualified as a jurist, but to narrow the field by gender and race for nominee`s is discrimination at it`s worst. Minorities have fought discrimination for decades only to fight for it when it suits them for their purposes. Where is THEIR sense of honor and duty? It would be an insult for me to be offered a position only because I had brown hair and hazel eyes. Morally, this country is already going down the drain. Just listen to the gurgle.

Nomination ?

This country is called "The Melting Pot".We opened our doors and everybody
swarmed in.The real, true American,is the Indian! They were here first, and just look what happened to them! Now what do you think is gonna happen to us when "the Majority" takes over this country? "United We Stand,Divided
We Fall",and this country is going downhill like a snow sled.
Most people don't know that China and Japan ALREADY own this country,we're just living here pretending it's ours. The Obama administration has sold us out.Now that he has picked a Latino, that just means "the Majority" is growing.I fear for what's ahead for my grandchildren.By-the-way,Obama wants to change the name of this country, also.Do your research and you'll find out what it is.

Obama's nomination

I did my research before casting my vote, which unfortunately many do not take the time to do. American citizens as a whole are very uneducated when it comes to politics, which is sad, particularly when the uninformed [in particular] like to make flash judgments. Saying you are not for someone just because Obama nominated them does not mean they cannot do any good. She was also nominated by George H. W. Bush, which shows she is liked by Democrats AND Republicans, which is hard to find nowadays. I say give her a chance. Research her background and you will find she has enough credentials and experience to make her truly qualified.

I'm sorry....I can't support

I'm sorry....I can't support anyone Obama chooses. This country is becoming a sad joke. We need someone in there who will actually start getting rid of all the illegals who are running us into the ground. I don't think she's it.

Comments on Obama's Choice for Supreme Court

Some of the comments sound pretty biased and uninformed. The person who said President Obama wasn't sworn in on a "bible" obviously didn't watch the swearing-in ceremony, when Obama placed his hand on the very same Bible that Abraham Lincoln was sworn in on! It's sad when people only hear and listen to the attention-grabbing headline, but fail to listen to the full explanation behind it (e.g., with cabinet/staff being "delinquent in their taxes"). The attention span of the American public needs a little stretch. Obama has taken a unique long-range view in many of his decisions -- not the quick-fix view we are so used to. This means we need to trust that the results we look for are forthcoming from this man, who has quietly, deliberately, and confidently considered consequences of the informed choices he makes. Because of the direction he has taken us so far, and the decisions he has made, I have confidence in this latest decision to nominate Her Honor Judge Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.

All that matters

The only thing that matters in this selection is whether or not the new Justice will do her job right. Meaning, obey the Constitution and the precedents already in place and seek to interpret the law and not make it.

Supreme Court nominee

I am against any potential Justice who will decide cases on anything other than guidance in the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and case law. Empathy has no place in deciding Supreme Court cases. Political correctness, quotas, special preferences due to popular views have no place in the minds of Supreme Court Justices. Our rights in the Constitution are being attacked by Obama and the Democrats. He doesn't want us to be able to protect ourselves (he and Congress have thousands of armed security forces to protect them but don't want us to have protection from criminals and illegals)or to have free speech to object to his policies. The Constitution doesn't say that there should be no religion in schools, etc. but that there should be no forced religion on us. And we should be able to object to Government actions and policies. Empathy has no place in Constitutional issues. And any Justice who decides based on empathy isn't worthy of being considered.

The comments on race and

The comments on race and politics are sad. Individuals are still creating an atmosphere of hate, and hiding under all the political adornment of a thin veil. To all of the individuals who did not vote for President Obama, and feel his choices are not made with expertise and sound judgement, remember. We the American born children of immigrants, The African American descendants of slaves and the American born descendats of slaveowners who have chose to forsake their inheritance(due to the fact that their parents have stated it would not be dispersed if any of their children decided to take a stand against hate and vote with their own conviction) and stand against the greed and ignorance that has overshadowed this great nation will continually vote in favor of saving a nation from itself. No longer are we the minority, we are the majority, we proved it on November 5th and we will do it again and again. All who were hated, segregated and disenfranchised, will show the world that through it all, we choose to love, show peace and live in prosperity, even to those who hate us.
Now is our time.

Not a mater of hate or race

Not a mater of hate or race but more of ignorance and politics. The ignorant
and uninformed are the ones that voted Hussien into office. Maybe not in spite of his color or race but because of it, the condonement and blessing of the liberal media that allowed his teleprompted sound bites to go unques-
tioned. If these uniformed "Now Is Our Time' block of voters had cared enough to surf the net or maybe switch to Fox Network from time to time I wonder if even then they would have believed the facts that were available to them. I think probably not! They didn't really listen to what he was saying except CHANGE! Well they are still not watching or caring what he is saying and what he is doing. National dept with all his "Change" is already
multiplied numerous times the total of the other 43 presidents and you aint
seen nothin yet! It is also going to cost our Grandchildren big time for him
to degrade our Medical Care System to the stature of Europe and Canada where
there are ridiculous delays for needed surgicals and therapies! If his theory that if an elected abortion produces a live birth that the baby should be laid aside to die is accepted and if Pelosis' birth control rec-
omendations are accepted and Islam continues their reproduction rate the
"Now Is Our Time" and "Silent Majority" cultures will not exist for a many decades! I think the "silent Majority" can not stay silent and I don't see this administration of Majority Liberal/Socialists mainaining for four years
My God I hope not!
