Are high gas prices forcing you to change your Memorial Day weekend travel plans?
According to new figures just released by AAA, a slightly fewer number of Americans will be traveling during the Memorial Day holiday compared to the previous year. The report says record fuel prices are partly to blame for the drop in travel.
Are you planning to cut back on your travel plans because of higher gas prices?

How are we supposed to be
How are we supposed to be out of debt if the goverment is in debt in the trillions- yes, trillions!! The war is most costly mistake that this country has going for us... sad!
Gas Prices
Government, both Democrat and Republican are to blame for this. Environment nuts have hindered new drilling in many ways. Last oil refinery was also built 35 years ago. Our dependence on foreign oil was easier at the time than us spending billions to get it ourselves as they had the infrastructure already present. Alternative fuels will drive up food cost as well. We are a conditioned society, and these prices were known to be in the works for years by greedy corporations and economists alike. The best thing for the US is to get our own oil needs settled in this country on our own land. We have the oil, but it is not as easy as sticking a pipe in the ground like it is over there in the middle east. The war is not about oil, as it would be still be cheaper to get our own oil than fund a war. The bottom line is that we need to revolt against the government and push the weight of the prices back onto them and watch the economy go to hell by just having a revolution. You think those stimulus checks were really meant to jump start the economy? NO, the economy is still actually growing if you look at the numbers. It was to condition you into keeping spending to save the country from an economic fallout. Once the money is spent, and the gas prices continue to rise, the bottom is going to fall out again, and the government will have no choice but to either reduce the federal and state tax on gas, or just go and release some reserves. You watch, it will happen, and no president can fix this unless he is willing to sellout the country by bartering more weapons, military technology, or something that will eventually come back to hurt the US. We have to get rid of foreign dependancy!! We have to get relaxed on environmental laws, and we need to get a president who is not on the list this year from ANY party in office that is serious about the country and not their own selfish egos. All of the choices pretty much stink.......
Memorial Day weekend travel plans?
I'm so broke that my wife and I will probably walk down to Hardee's to splurge on a "Six Dollar Burger" cut in half with a water to drink. At least we'll be able to work off the calories on the walk back!
Record prices = record profits.
This scumbag piece of trash we have as a president is not going to do anything about it. He comes from an oil family, he is probably just trying to get enough retirement money because all he is good for is a to clean toilets with the illegal mexicans. The Presidents Christmas party at Ford theatre was paid for by an oil company. OPEN YOUR EYES.
And don't say. "Everyone blames Bush", "everyone blames the republicans". I am going to call the BS card on that. If he is not to blame why has he not done the first thing about high gas prices? Acually why has he not done anything to benefit this country at all since he has been in office? Unfornutately the next president will have a bad name regardless of how they do because it is going to take decades to fix what this idiot has messed up and they will not be able to do it in their term. Does it really matter if we elect a man, woman, black, or white, hasn't it shown that these people just lie to you to tell you what you want to hear so they can get the votes and then they get in office and do what they want and protect the rich?
You wan't to see a good president, give me a working man or woman that has come from a working family, someone that has had to morgage a house or finance a car and had to work 60 - 80 hours a week just to get by. I don't care what they do in office as long as the country is ran correctly and my dollar has a value.
gas prices
The US should have learned a lesson back in the early 70's during the Arab oil embargo. I remember the gas lines and the "shortage" back in those days, our nation should have demanded at that time that the private sector along with the government take action. We sent man to the moon for the first time in 1969, yet we still rely on the internal combustion engine in this century? Whoever wins the presidential election needs to make energy a high priority from Jan. 20th 2009. Our economy is being ruined due to the gas prices and there's no end in sight as the big oil companies continue raking up record profits at the expense of the working middle class. I have no doubt that the oil companies have bought out people who invented alternative sources for fuel. You look at the out of control prices and at some point the effects will endanger our national security.
At what point will America say, "enoughs enough"?
gas
The high gas prices are out of control. My family is having to go without because of this gas problem. If something don't change in the near future we will have to sell our house to move closer to town. We are spending more on gas a month then we are on our house payment. How wrong is that!!! Everyone needs to come together and do something!!!
High Gas Prices
I don't understand why the government can not see that these gas companies are just causing the country farther into a recession with the constant rise of prices. Is this just they want one has to wonder.
gas prices
The high gas prices has caused us to re-visited every part of our budget. Our income tax and stimulas checks will be used for paying off bills to create more cash flow and saving the rest to fall back on. In addition, we will let our children ride the school bus for the first time in the Fall and my husband will began to take public transportation to work!
