Logan Brummitt

County Commission 4-B
Republican
My name is Logan Brummitt and I am 29 years old. I am not married and have no children. I am an insurance agent here in town working for Associated Insurors in Franklin Square. In college, I went to Cleveland State Community College for 2 years on an academic scholarship, graduating with my Associates Degree while playing baseball there too. After CSCC, I transferred to The University of Tennessee to play baseball. I played 2 years at UT and finished graduating in December of 2000 with a B.S. in Finance.
Why are you running for office?
After talking to the people of the 4th district, the same thing that I hear is that they are tired of the old guard of Knox politics. I am running because I think there needs to be a fresh face in there willing to question the norm of what's been going on. Someone who is energetic, passionate and willing to listen to what the people of the 4th district want. I am running because I think this is the purest form of politics in which we have the ability to help people, no matter republican, democrat, or independent. All that matters is that we work together for a common goal; and that is to make the 4th district and Knox county the best it can possibly be.
Do you have any relatives who are employed by Knox County?
NO
Are you for or against a consolidated city/county government?
I am for it. However, a proper consolidation plan would have to be established in order to do so. But so long as it was in the best interest of Knox County, I would be for it.
In your opinion, what is the most important role of government?
To serve the people. My job is to be their voice first and foremost.
Which past U.S. president do you most admire and why?
I would say two. John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan. JFK for the fact that after serving in the military he served for 14 years before he ever ran for President. I admire his public service as well his stances on what he believed even if it defied party lines. I admire Ronald Reagan for his strong beliefs in states rights, individual freedoms as well as other reaganisms.
Other than the Bible, what was the last book you read?
"It's not about the Bike; My journey back to life" by Lance Armstrong. I am currently reading a Christmas Gift that was given to me by Nelle Thomas. "Never Again, Securing America and Restoring Justice" by John Ashcroft.
