I-40 Closure Alternate Routes

Beginning May 1, 2008, a short stretch of I-40 through downtown Knoxville will be closed to traffic while construction crews make major improvements to the highway. The road will remain closed from James White Parkway (exit 388A) and Hall of Fame Drive (exit 389) for about 14 months.

The recommended alternate route is I-640. It is shown in green.

TDOT also says drivers headed northbound on I-75 may wish to use I-40 to I-275. This route is shown in light green.
